The Gibson ES-295 was first introduced in 1952 as an upgraded aesthetic version of the Gibson ES-175. The ES-175 and ES-295 were hollowbody guitars made similarly to the ES-330, with their pressed, laminated maple and poplar bodies with Dogear P-90 pickups. Differences with this guitar from the base model include a chambered mahogany body, carved f-holes, split-parallelogram fretboard inlays, a Bigsby B7 vibrato, and an All Double Gold finish. While the ES-295 also featured a trapeze tailpiece, vintage examples are highly regarded if they had a Bigsby® B7 tailpiece, which explains the Bigsby customization on this guitar.
