1957 SJ-200 Reissue with HiFi, Ultra Light Aged, Vintage Sunburst

Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged 1957 SJ-200 with HiFi Pickup This Gibson Custom Select 1957 SJ-200™ features Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging, only available through Gibson Custom Select and Made to Measure. For the first time on a Gibson acoustic guitar, an SJ-200 features Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging and is also available with onboard electronics. Gibson Custom Select offers instruments with unique feature sets that are hand-selected by Gibson’s experts. These customizations could include unique finish options, special hardware upgrades, and handpicked electronics. The two unique customizations for this guitar include the Ultra Light aging level and an optional L.R. Baggs™ HiFi pickup system. Known as the “King of the Flat-tops,” the Gibson SJ-200 is the largest acoustic guitar in the Gibson lineup. This Gibson Custom Select 1957 SJ-200 features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top that mimics the aging of a decades-old spruce top on a vintage instrument. Over time, the sugars in the spruce will crystallize, giving the wood a unique character common to vintage guitars. AAA flame maple is featured on the back and sides of the guitar, showcasing the level of figured tonewoods used in Gibson Custom instruments. The iconic 4-bar Moustache™ SJ-200 bridge is meticulously crafted from a piece of ebony. The fretboard is also ebony and glued to a three-piece AAA flame maple neck. The headstock finishes off the classic SJ-200 aesthetic with an inlaid block Gibson logo and crown with Kluson® Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons. The two defining features of this Gibson Custom Select 1957 SJ-200 are the Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging and an optional L.R. Baggs HiFi pickup system. Both of these features are only available from Gibson Custom Select or a custom order through the Made to Measure program. The Ultra Light Aging level shows weather checking without any dings or scratches, unlike the Light Aged and Heavy Aged levels. Another first for a Murphy Lab Aged Gibson acoustic is the inclusion of electronics. An L.R. Baggs HiFi system was chosen for this guitar as it has a non-invasive design with two extremely lightweight sensors applied to the bridge plate. This guitar is also available without the pickup system. This Gibson Custom Select SJ-200 has all the classic features of a normal SJ-200, with its Vintage Sunburst finish and tonewood combinations. Unique additions, including the Ultra Light Aging level and the optional L.R. Baggs HiFi pickup system, make this guitar a special addition to the Gibson Custom Select collection. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
